Eating and drinking

Eating and Drinking [UPDATED 17/06/09]

There are many food and drink options on as well as off campus. The university offers hot and cold meals catering for vegetarian and halal diets as well as world food. Off campus, there a few more options, often with a discount for students in the area. A hot lunch typically costs around 4-5 pounds.

Grocery shopping is fairly convenient in the area with three supermarkets within walking distance on Mile End road. There is a small Co-Op (mini market) near Stepney Green tube station as well as Budgens under the green bridge towards Mile end tube station. For more comprehensive grocery shopping, there is a very large Sainsburys from campus on the way to Whitechapel tube station or for the more adventurous; there is Whitechapel market, which is set up along Whitechapel Road on most days of the week. Other markets nearby include Spitalfields market, located on Commercial road, Borough market near London Bridge tube station. However, these are opened less often.
